Mordecai

Overview​

Mordecai is a former crawler from a previous dungeon season who is serving his indentureship as guide and Guildmaster. A Level 50 Changeling, he advised Carl and Donut through Floors 1, 2, 3, and 4, and brews alchemical potions (Mordecai's Special Brew) as part of his support role.

Role in the Story So Far​

Mordecai served as Carl and Donut's tutorial guide on Floor 1 and has continued guiding them through every subsequent floor. He was himself a crawler in a previous dungeon world, reaching 30 million followers and 4 patrons. He cryptically warned Carl: "It's not worth it, no matter what they tell you. Not until floor 12, and even then, negotiate as much as you can."

Throughout Floor 4, Mordecai advised on DT mechanics, mob behavior, and tactical decisions. He warned Carl repeatedly against overextending, particularly regarding the Doomsday Scenario and engaging city-boss-tier threats directly.

Mordecai has a complicated and painful history with Odette, who pushed him too hard during his own crawl. His brother was also a crawler in the same season and chose the Storm Commander class on Odette's recommendation — the exact fate of his brother remains unresolved.
