Mordecai

Overview​

Mordecai is a Level 50 Rat Hooligan and the Guildmaster of the Tutorial Guild on Floor 1 and Floor 2. A former crawler himself, he serves as Carl and Princess Donut's primary guide and trainer. He is a changeling, capable of shapeshifting between forms.

Description​

He appears as a Rat Hooligan on Floor 1: a rat-like creature with a black vest, blue pants, and worn sandals. On Floor 2, he shapeshifted into a Bugaboo — a large, bear-like creature with enormous owlish eyes, long thin arms, and comically skinny legs.

Known Facts​

  • Level 50 NPC; Non-Combatant designation
  • A changeling — can shift between multiple species forms
  • Was a crawler in a previous dungeon world, reaching 30 million followers and 4 patrons. Chose the Changeling race and Arcanist class, later specializing in fire magic.
  • Began preparing for Earth's dungeon around 1964, studying human culture extensively. Once shapeshifted into a human and visited a Blockbuster Video.
  • Keeps his mother's ashes and a photo of his brother in his guild chambers.
  • His brother was a crawler in the same season and chose the Storm Commander class on Odette's recommendation.
  • Has a hostile and complicated history with Odette; she pushed him too hard during his crawl and he suffered greatly for it.
  • Cryptically advised Carl: "It's not worth it, no matter what they tell you. Not until floor 12, and even then, negotiate as much as you can."
