The Krakaren

Overview​

The Krakaren are an alien parasite species and the hidden architects of Floor 4's Rev-Up Vitamin Shot addiction cycle. Their life cycle culminates in the Floor 4 endgame, when human-sized Krakaren offspring (grown from Stage 3 DT monster deaths) swarm through the escape tunnels between the noodle layers.

Known Facts​

The Krakaren distributed Rev-Up Vitamin Shots through the Iron Tangle's water supply. Mob withdrawal creates a three-stage DT progression:

  1. Stage 1 (Festering Ghoul): Mob dies from DT withdrawal; ghoul form created
  2. Stage 2 (Babababoon): Mob survives Stage 1 withdrawal; doubled strength
  3. Stage 3 (DT Monster): Hippo-sized tentacle monstrosity with transparent jelly skin. Death hatches thousands of Krakaren Crotch Dumplings.

Krakaren Crotch Dumplings grow from grain-of-rice sized at birth to monkey-sized (Level 14–17 Juvenile Clonelings) within hours, reaching human-sized (Level 20–23) by floor collapse. Caustic blood (acid), burning tentacles, round tooth-filled mouths. Resistant to lightning and ice (unless ice spear through body). Vulnerable to fire and psychic attacks (psychic stuns but does not kill).

The neighborhood boss Krakaren at Station 24 was an adult specimen running the drug manufacturing operation. It was accidentally teleported to the Abyss by Carl's interdiction cart.
