Agatha
Overview
Agatha is an elderly woman who navigates the dungeon with a shopping cart. She has appeared on every floor so far. Her eccentric persona is inconsistent with repeated signs of unusual awareness, her Valtay Corporation equipment, the dungeon's anomalous treatment of her entry, and the Valtay Corporation's own acknowledgment of her as a known quantity.
First Appearance
Book 1, Chapter 22
Known Aliases
- Crawler Agatha (Crawler #7,450)
Description
- Elderly woman; two bulbous eyes; eccentric, cackling personality
- Pushes a shopping cart (pink plastic flamingo in front)
- Has never chosen a class; Level 8 when last directly observed
Role in the Story So Far
Agatha arrived in the dungeon on the night of the Transformation, entering voluntarily while the dungeon stairs converted to a ramp for her cart. She survived Floors 1–3 operating largely alone. Her shopping cart was found to contain three Valtay Corporation items including an inter-tunnel communications relay flagged illegal by the dungeon AI. On Floor 2, she told Carl: "Them critters already know I'm here. They just don't know what to do about it."
On Floor 5, a Valtay Corporation liaison explicitly named "Agatha or any of her helpers" as a known external information source when interrogating Carl about chemistry knowledge he shouldn't have. Orren confirmed none of her associates were currently in Carl's bubble. Carl recalled her Floor 2 statement in the moment.
Known Relationships
- Carl — encountered repeatedly; Carl keeps his suspicions private and stays away from her
