Emberus

Overview​

Emberus is the God of Sun and Ash — a powerful deity who enters Bubble 543 to rescue his son Orthrus. Carl becomes his acolyte at the end of Floor 5.

Description​

Role in the Story So Far​

Emberus's son Orthrus became trapped in Bubble 543 as a feral god. When Carl works to keep Orthrus alive and heals him with Donut's spells, Emberus takes notice. He enters the bubble and issues Carl a boon for reuniting him with his son's pet, raising Carl's constitution by 25% for 30 hours.

He assigns Carl two quests: find out who murdered his son Geyrun, and a second undisclosed task. These quests carry over into future floors, with a smite penalty if Carl exits the dungeon before completing them.

After Carl joins the Church of Emberus as an Acolyte, he receives Sun Tattoos on the backs of both hands as a mark of faith. The church requires daily blood offerings at a shrine and 5% of all looted gold. In return, Carl gains immunity to the Burn effect, a 10% chance to inflict Burn on physical attacks, free Club Vanquisher access, and experience bonuses against Hellik worshippers.

Orthrus escapes with Emberus to the 12th floor at the end of Book 4.
