Sister Ines Quiteria

Overview​

Sister Ines Quiteria is a Cat Girl Poet Laureate-class crawler — a Discalced Carmelite nun who was a prison nun before the Transformation. She joins Carl and Donut's group at the start of Floor 8 in Havana, Cuba, alongside her partners Paz Lo and Anton Lopez. By Part III of Book 6, she becomes a major antagonist after being corrupted by her sponsors, the Nebulars.

Sister Ines is a bipedal Havana Brown cat girl with coffee-colored (near-black) fur, glowing green eyes, and rounded ears. Unlike Bautista, she has actual paws instead of human hands (with opposable thumbs), making gripping things difficult. She carries a glowing trident and wears a flowing cloak with arm bracers. No shoes. She has a Latina accent and appears to be older than she initially seems.

She did not choose to be a Havana Brown — the system assigned the form, likely because she is Cuban.

Abilities​

  • Word Weaver: A charisma-based spell; the Cat Girl race provides a charisma boost.
  • White ball of flame: Thrown like a baseball; kills even tough undead in one shot.
  • Power growth: Her strength and power grow with each undead or demon killed nearby. This feeds back into her corruptibility.
  • Can grant temporary strength boosts to Ogun-worshippers nearby.

Role in the Story​

Sister Ines is the de facto leader of the Paz/Anton/Ines group. She is the most composed under pressure and the one who de-escalated Anton's hostility toward Carl and Donut. She joined Carl's group to clear the Colón Cemetery (Pueblo de los Olvidados) on Floor 8.

She expressed deep, barely-controlled anger throughout Floor 8 at the aliens' mockery of human culture and religion. Her sponsors are the Nebulars — a cult that worships the entity running the dungeon's core system.

In Part III, the Nebulars deliberately boosted her mental imbalance. She gained control over demons, including the massive Amayon (the Madre de Aguas snake demon) and level 140 pleasure demons, believing herself divinely chosen to stop the crawlers from escaping. She threatened to destroy the church holding the last key's door.
