Laundry Day
Overview
Laundry Day is an armor-removal spell acquired by Princess Donut at the start of Floor 6 via her spellbook-of-the-floor club. At low levels it strips individual pieces of armor from opponents; at high levels it can target multiple enemies at once — and at level 15 it is capable of stripping a deity's divine soul armor from the alien who is wearing it, expelling the god and leaving the sponsor exposed.

First Appearance
Mentioned: Book 2, Chapter 105 (Anarchist's Cookbook annotation by Crawler Tin) Acquired by Donut: Book 5, Chapter 4
Mechanics
| Level | Effect |
|---|---|
| 5 | Removes chest armor and breastplates |
| 10 | Strips an opponent completely bare |
| 15 | Casts on multiple opponents simultaneously; capable of stripping divine soul armor |
Side effect: Produces foamy white soap bubbles at the target's feet on cast.
Soul Armor Application
The Anarchist's Cookbook (annotated by Crawler Tin, Book 2) noted that armor-removal spells — including Laundry Day — can theoretically strip the soul armor that aliens wear when driving a deity. Provided the deity's invulnerability is first defeated, the spell targets the wearer (the alien), not the deity itself. The god is expelled intact to the Halls of Ascendency; only the alien sponsor is left exposed.
How Donut Acquired and Leveled It
- Received at the start of Floor 6 from her spellbook-of-the-floor club.
- Trained to level 9 through practice during Floor 6 travel.
- Boosted to level 12 with a Pawna's Cries potion.
- Boosted to level 15 with a Pawna's Tears potion provided by Carl's sponsor before the cage fight.
Tactical Notes
- At level 15, Mordecai described a potential combo: cast Laundry Day to strip mob armor, then reanimate the armor with wailing spirits (Legionnaires of the Damned) — which would tear through the now-unarmored enemies.
- When used on armor that has been deliberately prepared as a trap (individual pieces sewn on rather than connected), the stripped pieces fly off with explosive force — useful for engineering shrapnel traps.
Known Uses
Floor 6, Chapter 74 — Cage Fight (Circe Took / Diwata)
At level 15, Donut cast Laundry Day on Circe Took, who was driving the deity Diwata while wearing her appearance as soul armor. The spell stripped Diwata's divine form from Circe Took, expelling Diwata intact to the Halls of Ascendency and leaving Circe Took exposed. Circe Took was immediately killed by her own mantis nymphs.
Floor 8, Chapter 15 — Bomo Armor Trap
Donut cast Laundry Day on Bomo, whose outfit had been deliberately constructed by Carl as a shrapnel device — individual metal pieces and daggers sewn onto a fabric undersuit rather than connected. Stripping the armor caused the pieces to explode outward like a fragmenting grenade, filling the room with shrapnel. The spell's foamy soap bubbles appeared at Bomo's feet as a side effect.
