Grull

Overview​

Grull is a war god worshipped by several dungeon mob factions on Floor 4, including the mantaur mobs. He is a sponsored deity — an alien holds his season sponsorship and can drive him, choosing to wear Grull's appearance as soul armor or appear as themselves. His invocation by Prince Maestro during the Trainyard E battle inadvertently led to the death of the Mimic Rex borough boss rather than Carl.

Description​

  • Level 250 god
  • A sponsored deity: an alien purchased the season sponsorship and drives him, optionally wearing his appearance as soul armor
  • While a sponsored deity is active, they cannot be killed on Floors 1–11
  • Other parties can invoke a sponsored deity via sub-contracts (e.g. Death Challenge)
  • Invocation duration in seconds = vessel level + god level; no cooldown on re-summoning
  • Fills the entire chamber he is summoned into
  • Not all deities are sponsored — feral deities like Orthrus operate independently

Role in the Story So Far​

Prince Maestro used a Death Challenge sponsorship contract to invoke Grull inside Trainyard E on Floor 4, intending to kill Carl. Instead, Grull appeared physically in the trainyard and cleaved the Mimic Rex in half with his axe — killing the borough boss rather than the intended target. After the kill, Donut used the Bolt of Ophiotaurus to pause the deity's invulnerability for 15 seconds, and the mantaur vessel (with Grull still active) was portaled to the abyss through an interdiction cart.
