Overview

Britney Proskurina is a barbarian crawler who picked up Ysalte's pickaxe during the chaos at the end of Faction Wars, resulting in partial possession by the feral god Ysalte's spirit. The possession granted her Ysalte's supernatural speed — making her as fast as Osvaldo, previously the fastest crawler in the dungeon. On Floor 10, she is part of a vehicle team with Louis Santiago and Bautista. She is flat-spoken and direct.

Role in the Story

Floor 9 (Book 7): Eris warned Carl that "Britney picked that axe off the ground and is now possessed" — foreshadowing the Ysalte complication. She was not a primary focus but was part of the broader crawler group.

Floor 10 (Book 8): Britney competed with Louis and Bautista in a mechanical vehicle. Near the end of the floor, when Osvaldo attempted to double-cross the group — poisoning his own mount Bruna and launching toward the portal gate — Britney intercepted him at full speed. System message: "Crawler Osvaldo has been killed by Crawler Britney Proskurina." The golden player-killer skull appeared over her.

At the end of Floor 10, she jumped into Floor 11 without a word. Samantha noted that Britney needs to reach the 15th or 12th floor to activate the broken Ysalte memorial crystal and expel the possession.

The Ysalte Possession

Britney carries the spirit of Ysalte (the "Vinegar Bitch," a feral god killed by Paz on Floor 9) via the pickaxe/memorial crystal. The possession grants her Ysalte's extraordinary speed. To resolve it, she reportedly needs to reach either the Halls of the Ascendency (12th floor) or Sheol.
