The Dungeon System
Overview
The dungeon is an alien-constructed entertainment product operated by the Borant Corporation and broadcast as Dungeon Crawler World across the Syndicate. It is an 18-level structure built from Earth's interior after the planet's surface was destroyed.
First Appearance
Book 1, Chapter 1
Structure
- 18 levels total
- Each floor has its own biome, mechanics, and boss structure
- Floors are structured with neighborhood bosses, borough bosses, city bosses, and province bosses at escalating power levels
- Named bosses occupy key locations; city-boss-tier mimics concealed stairwells on Floor 4
Governance / Oversight
The Borant Corporation operates the dungeon. The Syndicate's legal framework permitted the claim. External powers — including the Valtay Corporation, Skull Empire, Prism Kingdom, The Plenty, and others — observe and sponsor crawlers.
AI and Game Mechanics
The dungeon AI awards achievements, presents system descriptions for items and entities, and enforces the rules of the crawl. It speaks to crawlers in a characteristic game-narrator voice; for certain achievement types it uses a "sexy voice."
God System
Gods in the dungeon are Soul Armor — aliens wearing deity-constructs. On Floors 1–11, gods invoked inside the dungeon are invulnerable to crawler attacks. Invocation duration = vessel level + god level in seconds. No cooldown on re-summoning. Invoking a god requires a sponsorship contract.
