Air Castle Assault: Destruction of the Wasteland

Overview​

Carl's team hijacked a Dirigible Gnome Vahana balloon and used it to destroy the gnomish floating fortress known as The Wasteland, eliminating the Dirigible Gnome Faction as a military force on Floor 5.

What Happened​

Carl's team hijacked a Vahana balloon belonging to Leon the Commissar under the pretense of returning the incapacitated gnome flesh mechanic Wynne. The ruse used Katia — shapeshifted to impersonate both the Wynne body and the Henrik body simultaneously.

Once inside the gnome's operational sphere, Langley's archers used guided rockets to destroy The Wasteland's escort planes: eight rockets fired in the first salvo, four in the second, targeting all circling escort aircraft.

After disabling the escorts, Carl took control of the Vahana and fired two four-pack guided missile launchers at The Wasteland's Knock-Knock bombs and defensive batteries, triggering a catastrophic chain reaction.

Leon the Commissar and sniper Crixus were killed when Donut opened a Hole in the basket floor of the Vahana. Carl, Donut, and Katia jumped from the balloon moments before The Wasteland was destroyed in a massive explosion. They used a potion called Dolores Doesn't Splat to survive the fall.

Outcome​

  • The Wasteland (gnomish floating fortress) destroyed
  • The Dirigible Gnome Faction eliminated as a military force
  • Leon the Commissar and Crixus killed during the assault
  • Commandant Kane survived The Wasteland's destruction but was later killed by Denise the Feral Goose Mother (Chapter 16)
  • Bonnie (Kane's daughter, Level 5) survived; placed in Juice Box's care
