Signet (Tsarina Signet)
Overview
Signet is a half-naiad warrior whose body is covered in animated tattoo-warriors that fight on her behalf. Her quest to reclaim her ancestral castle and kill Queen Imogen — her half-sister — is the narrative spine of Book 5's second and fourth parts.

Description
A half-naiad, half-high-elf woman (Level 60) covered in living tattoos that represent her fallen army. The tattoos animate and fight on her behalf. She carries an ancestral curse that prevents her from ever ruling — something she cannot remove. She was formerly part of the circus on Floor 3, where a wanted poster marked her as a traitor.

The High-Elf King Finian, leader of the Liana Sector of the Hunting Grounds, was such a horny bastard, it was said he'd bedded women from over 5,000 different races during his rule. Most scholars agree this has to be an exaggeration considering King Finian's hairlip and obsession with knitting, but nonetheless, at least one of these trysts did take place, resulting in the unique combination of half Naiad, half High Elf. Considering the Naiad Confederacy's tendency to drown outsiders and the High Elves' inclination to hunt down and murder any mongrel child of the late king, Signet here has probably had a tough life. Maybe that's why she ran away and joined the circus.
Known Facts
- First encountered on Floor 3 (Book 2): a wanted poster in the circus marked her as a traitor with "Wanted. Traitor" painted over her image; clowns were hostile to her likeness.
- Approached Carl after the circus encounter and spoke briefly; her tattoos (including a sea dragon and a three-headed ogre) animated around her during the meeting.
- Carl received a poker chip achievement for surviving her attack on Floor 3 (referenced Book 3, Chapter 7).
- Carl recalled her from the third floor in Book 4: he had a contract obligation with her tied to a program called "Vengeance of the Daughter" — a story involving high elves, naiads, and genocide, set to play out on Floor 6.
- Her half-sister Queen Imogen was responsible for destroying her people. Their father was King Finian (high elf, now dead); their mother was a naiad.
- Led the assault on Fort Freedom with were-castors, Areson the Wise, and Edgar. The castle was successfully liberated in Book 5, Chapter 28.
- Was teleported directly into the Butcher's Masquerade ballroom by Apito (the floor god) — not Carl's doing.
- When Imogen died, the Quest "The Vengeance of the Daughter" completed.
- The castle she liberated teleported to Floor 9 during the final battle, taking Signet's remaining forces with it.
