Iron Tangle Corporation

Overview

The in-dungeon narrative fiction for Floor 4's setting. The Iron Tangle Corporation is the fictional operator of the vast underground rail network that forms the environment of Floor 4. All NPC staff, trains, and infrastructure belong to this constructed entity within the dungeon's storytelling layer.

First Appearance

Book 2, Chapter 74

Known Facts

  • The network consists of double-sided "noodle" tracks — each track tube has an upper side and an inverted lower side, both functional and inhabited.
  • Named trains, when viewed from above, trace the Iron Tangle Syndicate logo — a deliberately arranged map.
  • Station numbering is non-sequential and relates to train routes rather than geography. Stairwell access is found at specific stations; some stairwells are on the inverted side.
  • Six Station Mimics occupied key hub stations, concealing stairwells and generating enormous crawler death tolls. The Mimic Rex occupied Station 433.
  • The Iron Tangle Corporation's lore parallels the H'lene — an ancient alien race that set up six waystations near the galactic center to rob and eat travelers, before being destroyed by Valtay and the orcs.

Editor Notes

The Iron Tangle is the narrative framing for Floor 4, not a real in-world political entity. It is the dungeon's constructed setting backdrop.
