Daniel Bautista

Overview​

Daniel Bautista is a Tigran crawler whose unique weapon system — stuffed Jaxbrin Amusements figures that true-summon their creatures when a tag is pulled — makes him one of the more unusual fighters in the dungeon. He served as a key communication contact during the Floor 4 rescue operation.

Role in the Story So Far​

Bautista was introduced as a contact on Floor 4, where he led approximately 600 people trapped near the abyss at the end of the Mindaro line. He was rescued by Carl's interdiction cart operation and communicated via chat throughout the floor, providing intelligence and confirming the chain reaction succeeded at the end of Floor 4.

His weapon system: he collected over 1,000 different stuffed Jaxbrin Amusements creature figures from Miss Quill's apartment on Floor 3. Pulling a figure's tag activates a true summoning of the creature for a limited time; rarer figures last longer. He retained five legendary rare figures in Sheol Glass Reaper Cases. A Sage Sprite Lecturer figure named Atwin (which lasted 2 hours) taught him how the summoning system worked.

On Floor 5, Bautista was placed in a different bubble from Carl's team. He had already cleared all four quadrant castles in his own bubble by the time Carl was working on the air quadrant — though most people in his bubble had not survived. He communicated regularly via chat throughout Floor 5. At the end of Book 4 he joined Katia's splinter group.

On Floor 9 (Book 7), Bautista is active as a Princess Posse member. He owns a Kimaris stuffed animal — a card depicting a Sheol demon with a "remainder of floor" summon time. At the end of Floor 9, Donut saves the Kimaris card from the table; Samantha recognizes Kimaris as connected to her blocked memories and someone who gave her a significant potion.

Bautista says at the end of chapter 87 that he "almost did something horrible or jealous" but held back. He notes he is "not considered human anymore," calling it his "great shame." He says he keeps "losing family." He gives Carl a brief warning about Kimaris before entering the stairwell.
