Mrs. Ghazi

Overview

Mrs. Ghazi is a Level 52 Borough Boss — a Sand Ooze that guards the basement workshop of Ghazi the Mad Dune Mage in the land quadrant sandcastle of Bubble 543. She is a minion of Samantha (Psamathe) and is described as having emotions unusual for an ooze, torn between loyalty to orders and unrequited feelings for Ghazi.

System Description

Mrs. Ghazi — Sand Ooze — Level 52 Borough Boss! This is a minion of Psamathe. Every living creature seeks the same thing. A sense of contentment. No matter what their origin story is, no matter what they are made of, the moment they first exist, no matter how dumb, how smart, how confused, they seek a place of comfort. What that comfort looks like to them can vary wildly, even amongst creatures of the same species. Oftentimes, that journey to felicity is what defines their entire lifecycle. When that creature crosses paths with another, it is inevitable that the weaker of the two will fall further away from their goal. This is the sort of thing that might go through Mrs. Ghazi's mind as it spends its day watching over a man it has grown to love at the behest of someone more powerful than itself.

Description

Appearance: a slow-moving ooze resembling sandy mucus, containing debris sucked up from its environment. Immensely strong; once it grapples a target, escape is nearly impossible — it suffocates prey and pours sand into all available orifices.

Hunts by vibration and sound, not heat or sight.

Boss Room / Environment

Ghazi's basement workshop in the land quadrant sandcastle. The room contains a recliner chair in the corner. The walls of the workshop are made of glass — explosives cannot be used as they would crack the walls and cause collapse.

Mechanic / Weakness

  • Hunts by vibration and sound
  • Has a glowing yellow "core" (yolk-like dome) always located under the recliner chair in the corner
  • The core must be burned to defeat the boss
  • Vulnerable to white-hot fire (burn gel: moonshine mixed with alchemical paste)
  • Regular fire is insufficient — the burn must be hot enough to damage the core
  • Cannot be damaged by explosives

Outcome

Carl hung upside-down from the ceiling using his Sticky Feet ability while Donut distracted the ooze using clockwork Mongos and a banger sphere playing "Jump Around." Carl doused the core with burn gel and ignited it, defeating Mrs. Ghazi.
